2012: BEDE'S TRIUMPH AGAIN IN ISFA NATIONAL GIRLS SEVENS
On a glorious day at new hosts Charterhouse, it was Bede’s that once again took home the U18 National Girls Sevens trophy. They had looked strong throughout the group stages, topping group A, while Stamford and George Heriot’s also both looked strong. Haileybury made up a strong looking semi-final line-up and produced one of the shocks of the tournament by knocking out the form team, George Heriot’s on penalties. Bede’s comfortably passed Stamford in the semi-finals and following a 1-1 draw in the group, Bede’s were able to overcome Haileybury, who were debuting in the ISFA competition, by 2-0.
In the U18 plate competition, it came down to Cheltenham Ladies College and St Clare’s who had both performed well during the course of the day. It was a close and evenly contested plate final came down to a single goal, giving the Plate win to Cheltenham.
The U15 competition produced a lot of intrigue throughout the day and once again, the George Heriot’s were looking strong! Having advanced to the final in second, it was fitting that they would face KES Witley who topped the group. There was nothing to choose between the two teams and it came down to penalties, and it was KES Witley who came through in sudden death.
There was a special surprise for all of the girls as Olympian Claire Rafferty, who has also represented England and plays for Chelsea Ladies, attended the event at Charterhouse and spoke glowingly of the event. The girls were thrilled with the pictures with Claire and she really helped to make the event special!
