BRADFIELD’S DAY OF GLORY AFTER 52 YEAR WAIT
Victorious Bradfield team
Bradfield College are one of ISFA’s most long established schools and have been entering the a2om ISFA Six-a-Side Tournament since its inception in 1957. Now, for the first time, they have finally lifted the trophy, defeating Bedford Modern School in the Final.
The day began badly when the entire programme had to be put back 30 minutes after the closure of the M25 caused many schools to arrive late. However, once play got underway, a number of ISFA’s Associate Member schools showed themselves to be more than a match for the Full Members. Ibstock Place, Felsted, KCS Wimbledon and Bedford Modern all won through to the main Cup competition in the afternoon while City of London and Victoria College were other schools who, despite little previous pedigree in the competition, made the knock-out stages of the main competition. KCS Wimbledon and Bedford Modern won through to the semi-finals where Bedford scored an impressive 5-0 win to claim a place in the Final.

Meanwhile, in the top half of the draw Repton impressively disposed of much fancied Millfield and Manchester Grammar School but they then met Bradfield in what was arguably the Match of the Day, drawing 3-3. In the penalty shoot-out, the goalkeepers took charge, making a number of fine saves before Bradfield won through 2-1.
In the Cup Final, Bradfield went ahead just before half-time through Abid Merali but, in the final minute of the match, Bedford Modern goalkeeper, Danny Green, left his goal to go forward and make the extra man. When the ball came to him, he played a fine cross to the back post where Brandon Brako controlled and smashed home the equaliser. Bradfield went back in front in the first half of extra-time, Matthew Judge setting up Merali to score and then, in the second half, a shot from Matthew Siredzuk was saved by Green but Merali ran in to finish easily and complete his hat-trick. Bradfield had ended their long wait and were finally ISFA Six-a-Side champions.
