TOUGH GOING FOR ISFA U15 AT AUGUST CAMP

The ISFA U15 Squad faced some tough fixtures when the met up for the August Camp at Bradfield College

ISFA 'A' 0 WYCOMBE WANDERERS 4

ISFA started slowly and were soon 2-0 down.  However, the team improved as the game progressed and increasingly matched their opponents.  For a while in the middle of the game, ISFA pinned Wycombe back on the defensive for a lengthy period but chances were missed and, inevitably, Wycombe then broke to score a third.  In the final period of the match, there were chances at both ends and Wycombe scored a fourth near the end.  If ever there was an example of the importance of taking your chances, this game was it.

ISFA 'B' 2 REDBRIDGE FC 6

On a small and bumpy pitch, Redbridge's superior physical size proved crucial in a scrappy match.  Zak Scorer and Oli Walker gave ISFA a 2-0 lead but then Redbridge took control and ISFA could not match their physical strength.

ISFA 'A' 0 ALDERSHOT TOWN U16 5

This was a frustrating match for the ISFA boys with size and strength again the deciding factors.  ISFA in fact enjoyed the majority of the possession, switching play well and producing a succession of fine passing moves but seldom making much of an impression on the Aldershot defence.  Meanwhile Aldershot scored five times, mostly from headers and set pieces.

ISFA 'B' 2 PLAYMAKER FC 3

This was an exciting match against a "feeder" club for Aldershot, with ISFA scoring first and last and nearly forcing a draw.

JULY 2010 CAMP AT REPTON

The 2010-11 season began with a Development Camp for the ISFA U15s at Repton School between 10th-12th July at Repton School. Three matches were played during the camp.

ISFA U15'A' 4 MILTON KEYNES DONS 0

The first match of the new ISFA season took place on 10th July and resulted in an excellent victory for the ISFA U15 Squad against Milton Keynes Dons. The team kept possession well and passed the ball about impressively with Matthew Benham, Rob Hesketh and Matthew Golby imporessive in midfield and Joe Kelly and Nicholas Jeyarajah comortable in possession at the back.

George Herring opened the scoring after good work down the right by Luke Balmer and Obasiarinse Uade scored the second when he was put through and beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one. Uade was then brought down in the penalty area and got up to stroke home the penalty and Ben Morton added the fourth to complete the victory.

Three players made particularly impressive debuts for ISFA - Lewis Ratcliffe in goal, Harry Hodd and Tanilore Fayeme.

ISFA U15'A' 6 DERBY COUNTY DEVELOPMENT SQUAD 2

The Derby team, fielding some overage players, brought a more physical challenge for the ISFA side which brought new problems to be overcome. However, the ISFA boys stayed patient, kept to the game plan and soon settled into a possession rhythm and created a number of chances which were taken expertly.

Obasiarinse Uade hit four goals and Carlo Mole hit an outstanding drive from 25 yards and a Luke Balmer penalty completed a 6-2 victory for ISFA.

ISFA U15'B' 4 DERBY COUNTY DEVELOPMENT SQUAD 2

ISFA dominated the early stages but went behind against the run of play through an unfortunate own goal. However, ISFA scored a deserved equaliser when Ben Leslie cleverly chipped the ball into the top corner. Piers Oldland added a second and ISFA continued to dominate but, once again against the run of play, Derby equalised from a breakaway.

Confidence was initially knocked but in the closing stages of the game ISFA decided the match. First an excellent end-to-end move, involving 5 players, ended with George Herring scoring from a right wing cross and then Herring added a fourth following another good move down the right.
