LEADERSHIP AND VOLUNTEERING - HOW TO GET INVOLVED
The Independent Schools Football Association introduced its scheme for Leaders and Volunteers in 2009
This initiative is an excellent way to accredit the students who voluntarily give up their time to help in the running of the football programmes. The Independent Sector has always been proud of the voluntary work that its students undertake and, through Step into Sport, the students will have certification to demonstrate their voluntary work in football.
How does a school get involved with Step into Sport? It is a very simple process. Register by completing Form One (below). Then download Forms Two and Three to keep track of your students’ hours and also to request certification from ISFA when you have people who have volunteered at least 10 hours.
The whole process takes less than 5 minutes but the benefits for the student in pursuits that they follow in later life - university, jobs and any additional work - are worth a lot more! With the Olympics in 2012, and potentially a World Cup in 2018, opportunities to volunteer on an international scale are available and a strong Step into Sport programme will certainly support any application to assist at what will be two incredible events!
For more information on the scheme, and how to get involved, please contact ISFA’s Football Development Officer Sean Smith at fdo@isfa.org.uk or by phone on 07854 136 788.
This takes place annually during the Easter Holiday for outstanding Leaders and Volunteers within ISFA Schools.

THE FA NATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND VOLUNTEERING CAMP
The outstanding ISFA Leaders and the ISFA Camp are put forward to attend The Football Association's National Camp in July each year for outstanding Leaders from across the country. A small number of those attending are asked to assist The FA in their development work overseas, usually in Africa.

With the help of organisations such as the Premier League, the Football Association, Rugby Football Union, English Cricket Board, Radio 1, Youth Sport Trust, UK Sport and many more leading sports organisations, www.careers-in-sport.co.uk profiles experts working within different professions of the sport and leisure industry.
Professionals in the field of sports science, sports coaching, sports management and sports media describe their typical day, the benefits and disadvantages of their profession, their salary and offer advice on the qualifications and experience required for a career in their profession.
If your school/college would like leaflets or posters for their career library or to arrange a careers workshop please email Harvey@careers-in-sport.co.uk.
